Information We Collect

Out of Scope is hosted by Ghost.org. Ghost may collect certain anonymous data for the sole purposes of monitoring system performance.

Personal Information is personally-identifiable information such as your name, addresses, and/or payment information.

When you subscribe to the Out of Scope newsletter and blog, we DO save your email address which we use to send you updates, newsletters, and posts. Subscription emails are sent by Ghost.org which sends us data on whether emails have been opened.

Your email address is shared with ConvertKit which we use to send a series of e-mails and to send additional site summaries or content. You can read their privacy policy here.

We use Plausible for site statistics. Plausible is a privacy-friendly analytics package. We recommend them!

Data Security

The Internet is, by its nature, inherently open and subject to interception of information. We can’t guarantee that the information you provide to us over the Internet won’t be intercepted by third-parties while it’s being communicated  by means that are outside of our control.

Security measures such as the use of Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology have been implemented to enhance the protection of your Personal Information against loss or theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification. SSL-enabled websites like our Site employ a security protocol to ensure that your Personal Information is only transferred between your device or computer and us, the intended recipient.

There are several places throughout our Site that may link you to other websites that don’t operate under our Privacy Policy. When you click through to these websites, our Privacy Policy no longer applies. We recommend that you examine the privacy statements of any third-party websites you visit to understand their procedures for collecting, using, and disclosing your Personal Information. We make no promises, warranties, or representations about these third-party websites and bear no liability whatsoever for your use of them.

We may share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant, or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

Your Consent

By choosing to provide us with your Personal Information you are consenting to its collection, use, and disclosure in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws. If you’re under 18 years old, you can’t provide any Personal Information, including for the purposes of making a purchase, to Bureau of Bright Ideas Ltd. or the Out of Scope site, without the consent of your parent or legal guardian.

Updates

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Your subsequent use of the Site will be your consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your Personal Information as set out in this Privacy Policy.

This policy was revised August 28, 2021. We removed references to payments and surveys (because we don't do either). We added a paragraph about Plausible although it doesn't collect any personally identifiable information. (We just love them).
